Biography
Rubén Sosa (born April 25, 1966 in Montevideo) is a retired
Uruguayan football forward who enjoyed success in Italy's Serie
A with S.S. Lazio and then with Inter Milan.
Sosa was known for his spectacular efforts and thunderous free
kicks, and he was Inter Milan's leading goal scorer in the 92/93
& 93/94 seasons. However, the arrival of Dennis Bergkamp in the
Summer of 1993 and new club owner Massimo Moratti, led to splits
within the Milan camp, and as a result Sosa left Serie A in the
Summer of 1995.
A complete forward who could shoot, volley, dribble, create, and
pass with precision made him one of the best strikers in Europe.
Why more recognition was not given to him remains a mystery, but
it may be partly due to his own personal preference to keep a
low profile.
