Biography
Dario Šimić (born November 12, 1975 in Zagreb) is a Croatian
football player who currently plays for A.C. Milan of the
Italian Serie A.
Nicknamed `The Pitbull` for his fearsome competitiveness, Simic
made his name with Dinamo Zagreb before starring in Croatia`s
sensational 1998 World Cup run. His performances in France
earned the attentions of Europe`s biggest clubs and he joined
Internazionale after that tournament.
However, he never established himself as a first-team regular
during four years and the cross-city rivals agreed a player swap
with Ümit Davala going in the opposite direction.
He has made a more significant contribution with AC Milan
including 13 appearances on the road to victory in the 2003 UEFA
Champions League, though he was omitted from the Old Trafford
final.
His versatility means he can play at full-back, sweeper or
central defender. Alongside experienced Robert Kovac and Igor
Tudor he is one of the best Croatian defenders.
