Biography
Mauricio Pellegrino (born October 5, 1971 in Leones,
Argentina) is a footballer who currently is playing for
Deportivo Alavés in the First Division.
A commanding stalwart that helped Valencia to the 2003/2004
Spanish First Division title and UEFA Cup, Pellegrino is an
experienced defender who is highly respected. However, he was
frozen out by then-Valencia manager Claudio Ranieri, and
consequently joined his former boss (and Ranieri's predecessor)
Rafael Benítez at Liverpool F.C. on a free transfer, signing a
six-month contract in January 2005. At the end of this contract,
he was allowed to join Alavés.
