Biography
Sunday Oliseh (born September 14, 1974 in Abavo, Port Harcourt)
is a Nigerian footballer. He has played 40 international matches
and scored 2 goals for Nigeria, and played at the Football World
Cups of 1994 and 1998. Oliseh is best remembered for scored an
amazing goal against Spain in a 1998 Group Stage match. Off a
corner kick, Oliseh volleyed the ball from just outside the
penalty box to beat Spanish goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta. The
goal proved to be the game winner, as Nigeria upset Spain 3-2
and went on to the second round of the tournament. Oliseh also
participated in the Olympic gold medal win in 1996, along with
stars in the team like Nwankwo Kanu and Wilson Oruma.
A midfielder, Oliseh has played for some of the world's greatest
clubs such as Ajax and Juventus. He came back to Belgium in 2005
to play for Racing Genk but he left the club on January 23, 2006
for personal reasons.
