Biography
Siniša Mihajlovic (born February 20, 1969 in Borovo, Yugoslavia
- now part of Croatia) is a Serbian football player. He is a
deadly free kick taker, and has scored numerous goals from his
defender position which earned him the nickname Bomber from
Borovo. His style of free-kicks differ from those of other
prominent set-piece specialists in that he dips the ball into
goal.
On the club level, Mihajlovic has played for Vojvodina Novi Sad
(1988-91), Crvena Zvezda (1990-92), Roma (1992-94), Sampdoria
(1994-98), Lazio (1998-2004). In the summer 2004 he was released
from Lazio and joined his friend Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan
on a free transfer.
Mihajlovic has compiled 63 caps and scored 10 goals for the
Serbia and Montenegro national team, the first 62 caps coming
for when the country was called Yugoslavia. He played in the
1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. He has since retired from
international football.
Mihalovic has had controversial links with former Yugoslavian
militant elements, and his racism has been reported on a
multitude of occassions. He received one ban after racially
abusing the then Arsenal footballer Patrick Vieira.
