Ümit Karan, born on October 1, 1976 in Germany, is a Turkish
football player playing as a striker. He is currently playing
for Galatasaray.
He formerly played for Gençlerbirliği and Büyükşehir Belediye
Ankaraspor.
He played in Gençlerbirliği for 5 seasons, scoring 47 goals. In
season 2000/2001 he moved to Galatasaray and in his first year
there he scored 14 goals. In season 2004/2005 due to his form
level he was loaned to Büyükşehir Belediye Ankaraspor.
In 2005/2006 season, Galatasaray's new manager Eric Gerets
wanted him back in the squad. Gerets was proven correct by
choosing him, as Karan scored 16 goals in 18 matches at the
start of the season.
