Biography
Denis Irwin (born October 31, 1965 in Cork) is a former Irish
football player.
For many years Denis was Manchester United's Mr dependable, he
started his career with Leeds United, before moving on to Oldham.
Following a bargain £625,000 move to Manchester Utd in 1990, he
made 296 Premiership appearances, winning seven championship
medals, as well as three FA Cup winners medals, a League Cup
winners medal and Champions League and Cup Winners' Cup honours.
Comfortable in either of the full back positions and an expert
from free kicks.
From 1990 to 1999 Denis was capped 56 times for the Republic of
Ireland and scored 4 goals. He played for his country at the
1994 World Cup. Denis Joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free
transfer in July 2002, at the same time as former Manchester
United teammate Paul Ince, and retired from professional
football at the end of the 2003-2004 season.
