Adrian
Ilie (born April 22, 1974 in Craiova) is a Romanian football (soccer)
forward, a key part of the Romanian national team for over 10
years.
On the club level, Ilie played for Electroputere Craiova
(1992-93), Steaua Bucuresti (1993-96), Galatasaray (1996-98),
Valencia (1998-2002), Alavés (2002-03), Besiktas (2004), and FC
Zurich (2004-2005).
For Romania, Ilie was capped 55 times, scoring 13 goals (as of
2005). He played for his country at Euro 96, the 1998 World Cup,
and Euro 2000. Adrian's brother, Sabin, is also a professional
footballer.
Adrian Ilie has now retired from professional football.
