Nelson Haedo Valdez (born November 28, 1983 in Caaguazu) is a
Paraguayan football player.
An attacker, he has played 6 matches for the Paraguay national
football team. He currently plays for Werder Bremen, a club he
joined in 2001 from Atletico Tembetary in Paraguay. He spent the
first two seasons in the Regionalliga with the reserve team, but
became more regular. In the 2003/04 season he became German
league and cup champion. Valdez is an explosive goalscorer and
playmaker, and scored some very important game-winning goals for
Werder in Bundesliga and especially international competition
the last two years. With Miroslav Klose and Ivan Klasnic, the
Bundesliga's top striking duo, Valdez doesn't receive the
opportunity to start and usually only enters the game in the
70th minute or later as a sub for one of them, or for a
midfielder if Werder is losing.
