Biography
Fernando Manuel Silva Couto (born 2 August 1969 in Espinho) is a
Portuguese football player. He played as a defender for the
Portuguese national team during Euro 2004 and was also their
captain. He has played in Portugal, Spain and Italy and has won
the league title of each country. He currently plays in Italy's
Serie A for Lazio.
He ended Euro 2004 level with Luís Figo as the most-capped
player in Portuguese history, with 110.
