Biography
Demetrio Albertini (born August 23, 1971 in Besana) is an
Italian football (soccer) midfielder, who currently plays for
Barcelona of the Spanish Liga but spent most of his career with
AC Milan of Serie A.
Albertini was at Milan from 1988 to 2002, sharing in the club's
multiple triumphs. During his tenure there, the club won the
scudetto five times and the European Cup three times. After
leaving Milan, Albertini has been bouncing around different
teams; he spent 2002-03 with Atlético Madrid, 2003-04 with Lazio,
and started 2004-05 with Atalanta before transferring to
Barcelona in January. For the Italian national team, Albertini
has been capped 79 times. He played for his country at the 1994
and 1998 World Cups, Euro 96, and Euro 2000.
