SC Heerenveen History
|
S.C. Heerenveen is a Dutch football
club currently playing in the Eredivisie, the Dutch Premier
Division.
The club is located in the town of Heerenveen, the Netherlands.
Its status in the European football scene may be inconsequential
but this club has achieved something of a phenomenal standard
when they managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group
stage in the 2000/2001 season, having secured 2nd position in
the Eredivisie in the 1999/2000 season since it is a small club
by European standards. Having played in European football cup
competitions for many seasons, this club can be seen as the only
club within the Eredivisie to actually challenge the top
triumvirate of PSV, Feyenoord and Ajax for dominance.
The crest on the club emblem is the symbol of the Frisian flag
where the club is located and every home game at the Abe Lenstra
stadium is preceded with the Frisian anthem. |
